OF GIKUNDIRO

Founded in May 1968 in Nyanza, Rwanda's Southern Province, Rayon Sports FC is the oldest and most beloved football institution in the country. Long before Rwanda's modern football landscape took shape, Rayon Sports was laying foundations the traditions, the rivalries, the culture that define Rwandan football today.

The club's unique political neutrality has been central to its mass appeal. Revenue comes from 52 fan groups making monthly contributions a community-funded model unique in Rwandan football. With over 8 million supporters representing approximately 80% of all football fans in Rwanda, Rayon Sports is not merely a club but a national institution.

The most recent Premier League title came in 201819 the hunt for a 10th championship defines the current era, as the club seeks to convert its overwhelming popular support into sustained on-pitch dominance.
